Week 2 of Water/MENA! On Monday we will finish our KIM assignment and begin to look at some of the conflicts in the Middle East. On Tuesday we will compare and contrast the systems of the region. On Wednesday we will research and discuss the organizations and alliances that build or break tensions in the region. On Thursday we will learn about the role of water in MENA and on Friday we will do a simulation based on this knowledge. We will also have a quiz on Unit 2.

We've completed our Geography and Science Handbooks, we've gotten a taste of the world via the Olympics, we've studied the cartography and nature of our own campus. Now its time to put all of our new skills to work!
This week we begin our unit on Water and the Middle East & North Africa! On Monday we kick in off in my favorite way, with maps! On Tuesday we will explore the culture of the region by looking at its people firsthand. On Wednesday will be our unit pretest and Frayer models of the the important facts. Thursday we will look at some of the water issues in the region, both the scientific and cultural conflicts. On Friday we will put that knowledge to work by taking sides and having a simulated UN meeting to debate the issues. Its the final week of the Olympics and our first unit! On Monday we will have an Olympic Ceremony with the other Environmental Science and World Geography classes. On Tuesday and Wednesday we will work on our Body Biographies, Eco-Footprints, and Olympic Maps. On Thursday we will turn in our Olympics Projects and share our results. On Friday we will have a brief quiz and look ahead at our next unit.
The Olympics are finally here! Monday we will begin an Olympic project to begin learning the nations and regions of the world. This will be ongoing and inside of the Interactive Notebook. Tuesday we will put our map skills to the test as we explore the cartography process and look at some of the building blocks of geography. Wednesday will be our opening ceremonies for World Geo and Env Sci classes as we embrace the Olympic spirit together. On Thursday we will work on the major vocabulary we will see every unit and on Friday we will find out what our eco-footprint is and take a Unit 1 Quiz.
